Gardner sits higher than most of the surrounding area, and it shows in the weather. Snow tends to come earlier, stay longer, and pile deeper than in towns along the Nashua River valley. That puts extra demand on roofs, gutters, and decks, and it makes ice dams a regular issue on older homes with little attic insulation. When we quote roofing or an addition here, snow load and eave protection are central to the design.
The factory-era homes downtown and around West Gardner Square often have balloon framing, tall walls, and porches that have been repaired many times. South Gardner has its own older village housing, and the neighborhoods near Dunn State Park and Crystal Lake mix midcentury homes with newer construction. Lead-safe practices apply in most pre-1978 homes, and hidden rot at sills and porch connections is common after decades of freeze and thaw.
Permits and inspections run through the City of Gardner building department. We handle that process for the work we do so the project is documented correctly.
